En Masse Orchestra

CMSA is pleased to announce the En Masse Orchestra selections for the 2013 convention.

Canadian Folk Song Medley - arranged by Jim Bates

As a thank you to our Canadian hosts, Dr. Bates has arranged Bright Phoebe, Teaming Up the Caribou Road, She’s Like the Swallow, and Cape Breton Jig.  This will be the world premiere of this piece.

Chrysopylae Reflections - by James Kellaris

This will be the program opener.  This piece won 1st place in the 2012 San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra composition competition.   This will be the Canadian premiere of this piece.

Colonel Bogey - by Kenneth Alford, arranged by N. Leiderman

Also known as the Colonel Bogey March, this excellent arrangement is from the library of Antonina Nigrelli.  It is a popular march that was written in 1914 by Lieutenant F.J Ricketts using the pseudonym Kenneth Alford.

Je Te Veus - by Erik Satie, arranged by James Kellaris

This art song is simple, beautiful, and very French.  It is a nod to Canada’s French speaking provinces.

Oblivion - by Astor Piazzolla, arranged by Robert Margo

This piece is a tango that Bob arranged for the Providence Mandolin Orchestra.

Sinfonia Parnassus - by Hiro Fujikake

In the words of our conductor, Jim Bates, “this piece will be a challenge and a hit with both the performers and the audience.”

The parts have already been sent out for anyone who has already registered for the En Masse Orchestra.

Music will be sent bi-weekly from 12 August on out.
